About

The Equinox Charity Cycle is a “spin” from coast to coast and from dawn to dusk in aid of Headway and Temple Street Children’s Hospital.

Headway is an organisation that helps to bring positive change in the lives of those affected by Acquired Brain Injury. It is estimated that Acquired Brain Injury is a condition affecting up to 30,000 people living in Ireland between the ages of 16-65. Brain injury is the foremost cause of death and disability in young people.

Temple Street Children’s Hospital is the first port of call for tens of thousands of children every year suffering from every kind of illness and injury imaginable.  Their aim is to help sick children by making their stay in hospital less distressing for them and their families, by funding the purchase of medical equipment, developing new services, funding research and developing new treatment facilities.

Over the past 5 years The cycle has raised  €100,000 for our chosen beneficiaries.

Typically we dip our back wheels into the Irish sea at sunrise and our front wheels into the Atlantic Ocean at sunset. The cycle is open to anyone willing to sit on a saddle for up to ten hours and there will is scheduled stops along the way for food and drink with the aim of catching the sunset across the island of Ireland that evening.  This year, having exhausted a couple of West and South Coast towns over the last 4 years including Salthill, Strandhill, Kinvara, Youghal, and last year our longest cycle of 260km to Westport, we have decided to head further North to beautiful Rossnowlagh in County Donegal.  This spin will be around 230km in 1 day and we hope to raise over €20,000 for charity.

If anyone knows of any willing sponsors who would like to see their logo on our jersey and website please get in touch.  100% of donations go to the charities.
