Training

Training is vital for this event.  It is a long and enjoyable day on the bike (ask anybody who has taken part before) but sufficient training to cover the distance is required.  However  we stick together in one big peloton for the day and you will be well fueled in terms of food and drink!  This is not a race by any means and safety is our number 1 concern.

It is advisable to be able to cycle upwards of 120km before taking part so get out with your local club and get some hill training in on your own time.  Below are some links to tips for preparing for a sportive like this.  There are also some routes pasted below to help you get started.  Howth head is a good training ground for the type of hill we will tackle on this cycle so get those legs pumping!
